The idea for NET3D grows out of a group of Northeast Tennessee writers’ increasing frustration with the newspapers for which they wrote opinion articles (without pay, if one is interested). Saddled with a failing business model, absentee owners that seem to have no understanding of the communities they serve and editorial staff more interested in advancing a narrative than reporting the news and presenting a diversity of opinion, these papers grow more and more out of touch with the people of this region. They have lost their relevancy, as continually-falling circulation numbers demonstrate. So when one of the newspapers decided to take a “new direction” with their community writers and let us go, the opportunity for NET3D presented itself.
NET3D is a web-based forum for informed discourse, intelligent discussion, and robust, respectful debate on any and all topics of interest to Northeast Tennessee and Northeast Tennesseans, subject to reasonable ground rules on presentation, decorum and subject matter.
