NET3D is a web-based forum for informed discourse, intelligent discussion, and robust, respectful debate on any and all topics of interest to Northeast Tennessee and Northeast Tennesseans, subject to reasonable ground rules on presentation, decorum, and subject matter.
Any and all submissions are welcome which meet these criteria:
- Be of interest to the intelligent and informed Northeast Tennessee layman. Articles addressing local, regional, state, national and international topics all have a place, provided they have a reasonable connection to home. Articles for a specialized professional audience such as those that would be published in a scholarly journal are not a good fit.
- Be informed. The writers must be well-informed on their subject, although not necessarily expert, and be able to back up their assertions with facts. Thoughtful opinion and analysis, regardless of the ideological bent of the author, is eagerly solicited.
- Be respectful. Writers must be respectful of their audience and other writers. Respectful disagreement and vigorous debate is expected; personal disparagement is unacceptable and will not be tolerated.
- Be well written. The writing must be as intelligent, informed and articulate as the audience we intend to reach.
- Be intellectually and ideologically diverse. We welcome the entire range of opinion and commentary on almost any subject.
- All submissions are subject to approval by a moderator before publication.
- Offensive language, gratuitous profanity and pornography are not permitted.
- While political commentary and issue advocacy and criticism will be a normal and frequent part of the content, blatant partisan politics will not be published.
- Extremist nonsense will not be permitted. There are sufficient places on the internet for wingnuts. NET3D is not one of them.
- We recognize there is an inherent tension between censorship and responsible editorial control. We reject the false notion that any refusal to accept an article, no matter how objectionable, amounts to censorship. We will risk accusations of censorship to insure that the principles and criteria set out above are maintained. We reserve the right to remove any content and to suspend or ban any individual for any reason. All responses and comments are subject to pre-approval.
- NET3D will not tolerate any form of discrimination. This includes, but is not limited to race, religion, sexual orientation, nationality, gender, ethnicity, disability, and traits with which individuals are born or otherwise.
- Real names are required. Nicknames and variations of real names are not permitted.
- Email addresses must accompany all comments.
- Individuals commenting herein may not misrepresent themselves.
- The use of multiple accounts is not permitted.
- Individuals commenting herein are expected to remain focused and on topic.
- Submissions which harass, attack or threaten an individual will not be published. This includes promoting any form of violence or violating an individual’s right to privacy. Stalking will not be tolerated.
- Posting of an individual’s personal information is not permitted.
- Any form of spam email, including hyperlinks to your own blog posts and/or website, is not permitted. Links to outside sources will be allowed if approved by a NET3D moderator.
