Baseball is…life

Baseball is like life. With the Fall Classic in progress, it’s a good time to talk about why. I grew up on baseball; from the time I attended my first major league game at only four months old (not that I remember it too clearly, natch), baseball was in my blood. My mom is a huge, lifelong fan and her bucket list includes visiting all major league parks in person; she lacks only the two New York City stadiums. As a kid, I spent many lazy summer afternoons watching games on TV and I’ve been to several parks myself. I … Continue reading Baseball is…life

I’m OK, you’re OK, we’re all OK…OK?

Those wacky far-left liberals ruin all our fun. Their latest target is the international sign for “OK;”you know, the one where your fingers form an “O” with your pointer and thumb, with the other three fingers up. It has been declared (are you ready)…a symbol of hate. OK, then? Apparently some folks have decided this common, American Sign Language, everyone-understands-it sign is associated with white supremacy and the far right. I actually have no words. Add this to the list of loony ideas promoted by the left in recent months. There’s the California city that amended the city code to … Continue reading I’m OK, you’re OK, we’re all OK…OK?

These are the days…lo, the busy days…

By Rebecca Horvath Being part of a newly-launched blog is exciting – lots of great content on a wide range of topics from some fantastic writers. Then there’s me. In the first few weeks of our blog’s existence, I’ve only made two appearances – far less than my colleagues. Lord willing and the creek don’t rise, I’ll catch up. But: life. (Also filed under: what did I do with my car keys?) Our original intent was for each member of our core team to provide at least two articles per month, with more certainly allowed. I’m already behind on my … Continue reading These are the days…lo, the busy days…

Entitled brats need not apply…

By Rebecca Horvath The scenario was perfect: a sports team representing the United States would play for a world championship during the week of July 4. They even beat the British team in the semifinals. There was plenty of hype stateside and 1 billion people around the world watched the women’s World Cup final; we won. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the biggest part of the story. The Entitlement Disease spread around the women’s soccer team, infecting a number of players with a nasty attitude, a big mouth, a great disrespect for our country and perhaps even fever and chills. One star … Continue reading Entitled brats need not apply…

Fake News is…real

By Rebecca Horvath “Fake news” has become part of our everyday lexicon, thanks in large part to President Donald Trump’s unique ability to succinctly summarize something we are all thinking but no one is saying. And as is often the case, if we push past Trump’s blustery delivery, he’s exactly right. The mainstream media is still in such hysterics over the 2016 election that they refuse to back down on their criticisms of the President, no matter how much he is accomplishing. The best economy in fifty years? But! But! But! Trump said mean words! Unemployment at a nearly fifty … Continue reading Fake News is…real
